PS 30M - Case Study
Updated: Feb 20

Overview
P.S. 30M is an elementary school in the culturally and historically rich area of East Harlem. They serve over 340 students in grades 3K to 5th and wanted an updated to update the look of their website and website content to reflect more of the school's programming, policies, mission, vision, and values.
Challenge
Before working with me, P.S. 30M's first website design was hard to navigate with content well above the reading level of the community residents served. The administration consistently wondered why parents struggled to understand critical information about the school or their students' education.
With the start of COVID-19 pushing all companies and organizations to become more virtual, parents' and students' ability to understand and follow the school's messaging was more critical than ever before. Within just a week, P.S. 30M needed a new website, clear messaging, and resources on-site to facilitate a new virtual learning environment.
Solution
For P.S. 30M, I redesigned P.S. 30M's 25+ page website and wrote or edited all website copy at a lower readability level for community residents served. I also created a month of social media posts for P.S. 30M to communicate critical information to parents at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Impact
P.S. 30M has been able to continue instructing students throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, use Google Classrooms with ease, and track their website data. Parents and teachers can also turn to the school's website as a resource for important school information.
